Job Purpose
The Commercial Supply Trader is a key member of Business Management team at PEMEX Deer Park. The PEMEX Deer Park Refinery is one of the larger and more complex refineries in the United States, processing roughly 340 kbd of crude and feedstocks producing a commensurate volume of products. The Supply Trader position purchases, sells, and trades products to balance refinery production with market demand through a mix of spot, medium-term, and long-term arrangements. The position will work closely with colleagues in PEMEX Deer Park and its parent organization, PMI Services North America, Inc., to help maximize the Gross Refining Margin of PEMEX Deer Park and to meet the strategic intent of PEMEX.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
The Supply Trader is accountable for all Diesel and Jet terms and spot arrangements associated with the PEMEX Deer Park Refinery. The Supply Trader works closely with the Business Management Economics & Scheduling team, the Business Development team and colleagues in the extended PEMEX portfolio in ensuring optimal supply and disposition of products. The accountabilities specifically include:
- Trades finished Distillates to balance refinery production and to maximize refinery margin and manage trading positions.
- Help develop distillate trading opportunities by working with Economics and Planning groups.
- Negotiates spot & term contracts that focus on sustainable win-win outcomes and ensures contracts are performed in accordance with agreed terms.
- Conducts periodic reviews on performance of long-term contracts.
- Develops new customers, product offerings, locations, and trades to improve Deer Park distillate net backs.
- Regularly engages with industry experts and represents PEMEX Deer Park at Industry forums.
- Communicates clearly on trading strategies and commercial opportunities.
- Coordinates logistical arrangements with Economics & Scheduling and Marine groups to ensure cost-effective product delivery.
- Develops refinery market view for Distillate based on market fundamentals and participates in development of refinery market strategies.
- Supports the PEMEX Deer Park business in meeting and beating its business performance targets in a sustainable manner.
- Resolves commercial disputes with counterparties.
- Coordinates with compliance to ensure Pemex Deer Park operates in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Manages risk through execution of derivative transactions and hedging activities as appropriate and within established guidelines.
- Shares accountability in the gross margin outcomes of the PEMEX Deer Park business.
- Supports the Economics & Scheduling team to find optimal and nimble solutions to planned and unplanned operational impacts.
- Supports Pemex Deer Park business development opportunities and planning activities.
