What you will do
- Develop, update, and maintain SMS documentation including policies, procedures, manuals, and templates
- Ensure documentation aligns with SMS principles and regulatory requirements
- Standardize formats, version control, and document management practices
- Support the planning and execution of internal and external safety audits
- Develop audit plans, checklists, and supporting materials
- Document audit findings, observations, and recommendations
- Track corrective actions and monitor progress to closure
- Verify closure of findings through documentation and evidence review
- Prepare audit summaries, reports, and management briefings
- Analyze audit results to identify trends and improvement opportunities
- Support regulatory reviews and ensure documentation is audit-ready
- Coordinate with safety, operations, maintenance, engineering, and compliance teams
What you bring
- 5 to 10 years of experience in safety documentation, auditing, compliance, or related roles
- Experience developing policies, procedures, and controlled documentation
- Experience supporting or conducting audits and managing corrective actions
- Experience in transit, transportation, or other regulated environments
- Strong technical writing, organization, and document control skills
- Working knowledge of safety management systems and audit processes
- Familiarity with OSHA, FTA, or similar regulatory frameworks
Nice to have
- Certifications such as ASP, CSP, SMS, ISO auditor, or similar
- Experience supporting transit or public sector safety programs
- Experience building audit trackers, compliance matrices, or dashboards
- Experience preparing documentation for regulatory or oversight reviews

Compensation
$43.27 – $57.69 Hourly, depending on experience, certifications, and qualifications
