Hardwood Sawyer

Pembelton Forest Products, Inc., located in Blackstone, Virginia, is seeking an experienced Hardwood Sawyer to join our production team. In this hands-on role, the sawyer is instrumental in the processing of high-quality hardwood logs into lumber, ensuring precision and adherence to industry standards. The ideal candidate will have the willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment and will possess a strong work ethic and reliability in attendance and performance. This is an on-site, full-time position with regular overtime and may include Saturdays.

Responsibilities

· Utilize sawmill machinery to cut and process hardwood logs into specified dimensions, ensuring precision and quality

· Monitor and adjust sawmill equipment to maintain optimal performance and output quality

· Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on saws and equipment, including but not limited to carriage and band headsaw

· Collaborate with the production team to optimize workflows and enhance operational efficiency.

· Maintain a clean and safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and best practices.

Required Qualifications

· Proven experience as a Sawyer in a similar role operating band saws

· Strong understanding of the hardwood species, cutting techniques, and milling processes

· Familiarity with sawmill software for optimization and tracking production

· Basic mechanical skills, use of hand tools

Preferred Qualifications

· Certification in sawmill operations or related technical training

· Familiarity with industry standards

· Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
