The position
We’re looking for a Marketing & Communications Coordinator with a focus area in communications and public relations to be a part of our team. This person will work collaboratively with all members of the Marketing and Communications team to implement a marketing strategy that increases awareness of, participation in, and support for the Pelotonia movement.
The marketing and communications function plays a key role in connecting the community’s efforts to real impact and in inspiring engagement through storytelling. All team members are expected to consistently attend, engage and build relationships with participants at community events.
You will report to the Director of Marketing & Communications and be an integral part of the Pelotonia team in our relentless pursuit to raise funds for innovative cancer research.

Website, blog and digital content management
Email marketing and campaigns
Creative and video production
Examples of primary responsibilities:
Support development of key messages, brand narrative and communications plans
Earned media research, monitoring and sourcing for innovative story angles and relevancy
Relationship building and nurturing with earned media contacts across business, consumer and trade outlets for high-impact opportunities locally and nationally
Writing internal and external communications materials, such as articles, press releases, blog posts, newsletters, talking points, scripts, speeches, annual reports, handbooks, and FAQs
Development and distribution of communications to stakeholders and internal audiences within the Pelotonia community, such as board of directors, corporate partners, and volunteers
Support executive communications and thought leadership strategy through identifying and managing calendar of speaking engagements, awards, content and events
Collaboration and coordination with external marketing partners to effectively manage projects and resources to further our collective impact, which may include working with agency partners, freelancers and Ohio State marketing communications teams
Monitoring and reporting of key performance metrics to evaluate and optimize ongoing marketing and communications across audiences and platforms

Experience creating project plans and managing projects from idea generation through implementation
A passion for writing and experience crafting compelling content across marketing channels using excellent writing, editorial and proofreading skills
Familiarity with the current media landscape (traditional and digital media)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Enthusiasm to bring forward new ideas and concepts, as well as crafting the plans to bring them to fruition
Strong communication skills
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, well-organized, and results-driven professional

What you can expect
Base salary: $45,000 Annual bonus based on organizational and personal metrics
