Equipment Operator Street Sweeper - Class C License

This isn't a driving job. It's an equipment operator job.

Our best operators often come from carpet cleaning, HVAC, plumbing, construction, public works, military equipment operation, and similar hands-on trades.

If you're looking for a job where you put your headphones in and zone out behind the wheel for eight hours, this isn't it. Please don't apply - you'll hate it and we'll both waste a week finding out.

Our operators run a 25,000 pound machine on active HOA properties and private properties. While you're driving, you're also working the gutter broom, managing the water systems for dust control, and laying down an efficient sweep pattern in real time. Every site is different. Your full attention is on the work the entire shift.

It's harder than it looks. It's also genuinely interesting work - once you're trained, you're solo in your truck most of the day, no one in your ear, running routes you know well. People who liked operating equipment in the military, in construction, or in the trades tend to love this job. People who wanted easy driving don't last.

What you'd actually be doing

You'd start your day at our Fullerton yard - start times vary depending on the route, sometimes as early as 4:00 AM. You'd drive to your first site, then spend most of the day sweeping HOAs, residential streets, and specialty sites across Orange County and the Inland Empire. You're home every night. We almost never work Sundays. (twice last year)

The work demands real skill: reading the property and laying down an efficient pattern, running the gutter broom against curbs and around cars & trees without damaging anything, managing water flow for dust control, working safely around residents. There's no autopilot. The operators who do this well take pride in leaving a site visibly better than they found it.

Our trainers have decades of experience and break training into simple steps. We can get you on your own in a few weeks. Like any new skill it feels awkward at first. Most operators become comfortable within a few weeks, but mastery takes time and experience.

The pay

• Paid Training (first 2–4 weeks):$23/hr
• Operator:$24–32/hr based on performance, not seniority. New operators typically reach $26/hr within their first six months as they prove out.

Overtime is available and frequent - Real earnings for committed operators are well above base rate.

• Military equipment operator The work translates almost directly and we hire vets whenever we can.
• Heavy equipment operator (any kind - backhoe, skid steer, forklift, dump truck)
• Construction trade work (concrete, asphalt, grading, paving)
• Carpet cleaning, HVAC, plumbing, or any trade where you ran a vehicle and managed equipment
• Trucking, logistics, or public works
• Mechanics – Any kind, this skill set and patience lend to easily understanding how the sweeper is working.
• There are people who simply drive equipment, and there are operators who master it. We're looking for the second group.

No prior sweeping experience needed. We'll train you on the equipment. What we can't teach is attention, work ethic, and pride in doing skilled work well.

Requirements

• Class C driver's license or above, with a good driving record. Minor traffic violations may be acceptable; serious violations or a pattern of unsafe driving are not.
• No alcohol-related convictions in 10 years
• At least 23 years old (21 with military service or relevant training)
• Smartphone (we use phone apps for routing and timesheets)
• Comfortable with Google Maps / Waze
• Basic mechanical aptitude - you should be confident changing belts, oil, filters, tires, bulbs, and spark plugs
• Physical condition to climb in and out of the truck dozens of times daily and occasionally lift 50 lbs
• Must pass DOT physical and pre-employment drug screen
• Lives within ~20 minutes of Fullerton - long commutes plus our hours equals burnout, and we'd rather not set you up for that
• Available for variable schedules including weekends (almost never Sundays)
