POSITION PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for executing laboratory testing, sample management, and quality analysis to support feed safety and product quality. The role is heavily focused on laboratory operations, including running analytical equipment, maintaining calibration accuracy, and analyzing data trends to support production and compliance decisions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
- Perform all duties in conformance with the established Feed Safety and Employee Safety policies and procedures.
- Collect, prepare, and test samples using NIR and other lab equipment to ensure product quality, nutrient composition, and compliance with specifications.
- Perform routine laboratory testing (e.g., moisture, protein, PDI, Mycotoxin) and manage sample retention, labeling, and organization in accordance with facility standards.
- Maintain lab equipment, including executing required cleaning, planned maintenance, checks, and calibrations.
- Support the Feed Safety Plan by performing accurate testing, documentation, investigations of out-of-spec results, and recommending corrective actions.
- Assist with audits and ensure laboratory processes and documentation comply with FSMA and Safe Feed/Safe Food requirements.
- Analyze laboratory results, identify trends in DDG and finished feed quality, and maintain accurate data in systems such as FOSS and Excel.
- Develop and present clear reports and dashboards to communicate quality performance and support operational decision-making.
- Maintain laboratory organization, supply inventory, and audit readiness while collaborating with operations, supporting special projects, and serving as back-up to the Scale house as needed.
- Take on additional and other responsibilities as assigned and needed to successfully contribute to the development of Pellet Technology USA as a company and growing entity.
- Responsible for production of safe animal feed and adherence to internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).

Education/Certification:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, Chemistry, or related field preferred
- High School Diploma required
Required Knowledge & Experience:
- 1-3 years of laboratory experience strongly preferred (feed mill, agriculture, food, or manufacturing lab ideal)
- Experience with NIR or similar analytical equipment preferred
- Experience with sample preparation, testing procedures, and lab data recording
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (data analysis, basic reporting)
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:
This position is a Monday through Friday day position; however, occasional overtime may be required based on business needs and at the direction of the supervisor. A valid driver’s license is required, with occasional travel up to 5% as needed.
