Job description:

Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and skilled Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Therapist to join our behavioral health team. The IOP Therapist will provide clinical services to individuals struggling with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions through a structured outpatient treatment program. This position plays a vital role in helping clients develop recovery skills, reduce relapse risk, improve decision-making, and achieve long-term stability.

Our Intensive Outpatient Program provides comprehensive treatment while allowing clients to continue living at home, attending school, maintaining employment, and fulfilling family responsibilities.

Program Overview

Participants attend:

  • 3 days per week
  • 3 hours per day
  • Group therapy sessions
  • Relapse prevention programming
  • Recovery education
  • Coping skills development
  • Individual treatment planning

Lunch and snacks are provided during each session.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and substance use screenings.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and monitor client progress.
  • Facilitate therapeutic group counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based practices.
  • Provide individual and family counseling as clinically indicated.
  • Deliver relapse prevention education and recovery-focused interventions.
  • Address co-occurring mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and trauma-related symptoms.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment team members to coordinate care.
  • Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Assist clients in identifying healthy coping strategies and recovery resources.
  • Provide crisis intervention and safety planning when necessary.
  • Support clients transitioning from higher levels of care, including detoxification, residential treatment, and psychiatric hospitalization.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings, supervision, and program development activities.

Client Populations Served

The IOP Therapist will work with clients experiencing:

  • Active alcohol or drug use
  • Chronic relapse and recovery challenges
  • Family conflict related to substance use
  • Child welfare involvement and family system concerns
  • Legal involvement, probation requirements, or court-related referrals
  • Co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
  • School, behavioral, or employment-related problems associated with substance use
  • Transitions from residential treatment, detoxification, or inpatient psychiatric care

QualificationsRequired

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Current state licensure or license eligibility (LPC, PLPC, LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, or equivalent).
  • Experience working with substance use disorders and/or co-occurring mental health conditions.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based treatment approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Relapse Prevention, and Trauma-Informed Care.
  • Strong group facilitation and clinical documentation skills.

Preferred

  • Licensed clinician (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent).
  • Experience facilitating intensive outpatient or group-based treatment programs.
  • Experience working with adolescents, adults, and family systems affected by substance use.
