JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: CONSTRUCTION & MAINTENANCE - CREW
GENERAL PURPOSE: Constructs, repairs and maintains all park district related buildings, structures and amenities.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
-- Assists in design of new construction projects
-- Assists in repairs and maintenance of existing buildings, structures and amenities
--Sets up Mineral Springs Park softball fields for Adult Softball games, including on Sundays
-- Operates heavy equipment such as excavators, skid steers, tractors, and trucks
-- Playground construction and maintenance
-- Plumbing repairs, new pipe installation, valve and component repairs
-- Roof and gutter installation and repair
-- Window and door installation and repair
-- Performs other duties as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
-- Graduation from a standard high school or GED and four (4) years work experience in the construction and related fields
Special Requirements
-- Must possess a valid Illinois Driver's License.
-- Must be willing to work weekends, holidays and overtime as required.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
-- Working knowledge of construction and carpentry trade skills.
-- Ability to read and understand construction prints or technical drawings.
-- Working knowledge of safety practices and procedures in a construction environment.
-- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair buildings, structures, and amenities with accuracy and speed
-- Ability to create effective working relationships with employees and ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and operate equipment, tools, or controls. The employee is regularly required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with assistance. The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, equipment, and in outside weather conditions year-round.
PAY RATE & BENEFITS
This is a year-round hourly position with a pay range of $18.00 - $20.00 per hour, dependent upon qualifications and experience. We offer an excellent benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision insurance, paid vacation, paid holidays, paid sick days, and IMRF retirement plan.
