What are the responsibilities and job description for the Secondary Agriculture/FFA Teacher position at Pekin Community School District?
The Pekin Community School District is seeking an Anticipated Agriculture Teacher/FFA Sponsor for the 2026-2027 school year for our secondary (7-12) education program. Courses may include agribusiness, plant science, animal science, horticulture, etc.. Experience facilitating students to FFA organized activities, supervising FFA Chapter entries for contests, county and state fair exhibits, within the FFA Alumni Association, and other FFA Advisor duties. Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Demonstrates the ability to enhance academic performance.
- Demonstrates competence in content knowledge appropriate to the teaching position.
- Demonstrates competence in planning and preparing for instruction.
- Uses strategies to deliver instruction that meets the multiple learning needs of students.
- Uses effectives classroom management strategies.
- Works collaboratively with other educational and community professionals.
- Engages in professional growth.
- Attends work on a consistent and punctual basis.
- Up to a 40 day extended contract
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Valid Iowa teaching license and any of the following or ability to obtain endorsements:
- 5-12 Agri science/Agribusiness - 300
- 5-12 Biological Science - 151
- 5-12 Agriculture - 112
The ideal applicant will be a subject matter expert in the teaching area, proficient in the use of student achievement data to guide instruction, able to openly and honestly collaborate with peers, able to use technology to present high quality student instruction, and committed to maximizing the learning potential of all students.
