SUMMARY:
The Supply Chain Specialist position plays a crucial part in the day-to-day operations of PEI, supporting all Project Managers in all aspects of the Cable Management process. The primary focus is on system setup, Bill of Material creation, pricing, and interfacing with Suppliers and Sales teams. The Supply Chain Specialist also performs some purchasing, expediting, and marketing of products to our internal and external customers.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum High school diploma and/or 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or advanced relevant experience preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment or company preferred.
TECHNICAL/MANAGERIAL COMPETENCIES:
- Effective Communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to quickly learn products, processes, and technically complex systems.
- Experience planning, buying and/or pricing products with Bills of Materials.
- Experience with an ERP/MRP system such as Oracle, SAP, Peoplesoft or other.
- Organization & Task Management skills
- Microsoft Excel – intermediate spreadsheet skills
- Microsoft Outlook & Word
- Customer Service mindset
ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Learn and understand technical products and processes. Take initiative to learn in the classroom, on-the-job, and self-teach through studying product manuals and documents.
- Working within our Engineering Solutions Group this role will be required to work with the Project Manager with product development and go-to market strategy on PEI own brand goods.
- Answer RFQ's
- Manages relationship and engages with Cable partners
- Set up part numbers and bill of materials in the ASW (ERP) system
- Provide support for internal and external customers
- Communicates important supplier information to management, such as material issues that may impact our overall business
- Ensures integrity of system information including cost, resale, packaging information, descriptions, and other part data maintenance.
- Work with suppliers and PEI sales in regards to the disposition of defective goods
- Maintain inventory. Analyze slow moving & excess using Excel and take/track actions.
- Assist with Marketing – web, catalogs, mailers, and internal
- Resolve problems
- Sends and receives faxes; makes copies; runs reports as needed.
- Other Special projects
- Assist with RMA's
- Assists in Tracking the design and development process
