Customs Compliance Specialist / Senior Customs Compliance Analyst Position Overview
Pegasus Shipping Inc. seeks an experienced, detail-oriented Customs Compliance Specialist / Senior Customs Compliance Analyst to join our growing compliance department. This is not an entry-level role and will reward those with ambitions for long term growth.
The ideal candidate must have strong direct operational and regulatory knowledge within U.S. Customs brokerage, FDA-regulated cargo, FTZ operations, post-entry processes, and government agency compliance. Put theory into practice and yield results for our customers and yourself!
Our next hire is someone who can independently navigate complex compliance matters, communicate with CBP / PGAs, and support high-volume import operations with accuracy and urgency. This candidate will be proactive, organized, solution-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced customs brokerage and logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Customers with compliance guidance and issue resolution in a courteous and timely manner.
- Handle and facilitate:
Ø CBP Protests
Ø Post Summary Corrections (PSC)
Ø Entry Amendments / Corrections
Ø Withdrawals and warehouse-related filings
Ø FTZ admissions, e214 filings, transfers, and compliance coordination
Ø IEEPA refund filings and CAPE portal submissions
Ø FDA refusals, destructions, reexports, and compliance coordination
Ø Permit review and compliance verification for FDA, USDA, EPA, DOT, FCC and other government agencies
Ø Liquidated damages mitigation support
Ø Customs audits and Requests for Information (CF28/CF29)
Ø ISF compliance review and corrections
Ø Classification and tariff review support
Ø Reconciliation of CBP statements, notices, and refund activity
Ø Prior Disclosures (preferred experience)
Ø Duty drawback knowledge (preferred experience)
- Monitor regulatory changes involving:
Ø CBP
Ø FDA
Ø ACE/CAPE/Tariffs
Ø Other Partner Government Agencies
Ø Trade enforcement actions
- Maintain accurate records and compliance documentation.
- Assist with SOP development and internal compliance procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in:
Ø Customs brokerage
Ø Import compliance
Ø Trade compliance
Ø FTZ operations
Ø FDA/PGA compliance
Ø Strong working knowledge of:
Ø CBP regulations and procedures
Ø FDA refusal/destruction/reexport processes
Ø FTZ procedures and e214 filings
Ø PSCs and Protests
Ø ACE Portal
Ø CAPE
Ø IEEPA refund processes
Ø Customs tariff classification and post-entry corrections
- Ability to independently handle complex and time-sensitive compliance matters.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience with:

Ø ABI systems
Ø FDA Prior Notice
Ø Duty Drawback
Ø AD/CVD entries
Ø Bonded warehouse operations
Reporting Structure:
This role reports to the Director of Operations (Branch) and works cross-functionally with brokerage operations, FTZ operators, warehouses, internal accounting, and executive management. The position also interfaces directly with CBP, FDA, government agencies, carriers, and external compliance partners regarding regulatory and post-entry matters.
