What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimating Engineer position at Pegasus Manufacturing LLC?

We are seeking an Estimating Engineer to manage the day to day activity for estimating and detailing standard part methods and bill of materials to ensure customer requirements are delivered accurately and consistently thru MRP to the Engineering staff.
So, what will you be doing as a Estimating Engineer?
- Coordinate requests with other Sales Team members as needed to support area and develop to costs/quotes within the appropriate time and bid closing requirements.
- Building engineering estimates through MRP in detail including material and subcontract costs to develop a manufacturing process plan and identify proper work center.
- Rely on experience and judgement to plan and prepare an efficient process.
- Maintain up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical developments that affect target markets.
- Incorporate customer specifications into the estimate by working form blueprints, sketches, or other information to determine the best method of manufacture.
- Identify material handling methods and resources required to produce and handle product.
- Evaluate product and service marketability in terms of customers’ technical and manufacturing needs.
- Act as the liaison between customer and process engineering until the transition is complete to order placement.
- Ensure that the transition from the quote state to the order process stage is clear and precise with all procedures as referenced in the quoting guidelines followed with every level of detail applied.
- Answer technical questions on product characteristics and intent.
- Consult with manufacturing engineering and shop personnel in determining best manufacturing methods.
- Understanding, utilizing basic decision making for quality and timely decisions.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- 5 years estimating experience in contract manufacturing OR
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and sequences.
- Demonstrated aptitude for collaboration, recognition of individual strengths and areas for improvement.
- Able to understand and interpret technical plans, specifications, and operations sheets, etc.
- Computer literate (Windows, MS Office, E-mail, etc.)
- Experience in MRP/ERP systems and SolidWorks (CAD)
