Seeking a Project Archivist or Archival Assistant for a 12-month contract (40 hours/week - Onsite in North suburbs of Chicago). The position requires 2 years or more experience in business or corporate archives, though candidates with backgrounds in libraries, museums, or academic institutions will also be considered. This role will focus on processing collections, using archival management systems, and applying archival methods to ensure the preservation and accessibility of important records.
Key Requirements:
- For Project Archivist: Master’s degree in Archival Science or Library Science.
- For Archival Assistant: Bachelor’s degree is acceptable.
- Experience with archival management systems (e.g., Archivera, Preservica) and methods such as MPLP and DACS.
- Archive certification is a plus, but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and project management skills are highly desirable.
Required:
- Archival processing experience
- Use of MPLP, DACS, ArchivEra/ArchivesSpace, and Preservica
- Handling physical and digital archival materials
- Creating metadata, finding aids, digitization prep
- Moving/lifting collections, working with vendors
- Following confidentiality requirements
- Working with similar archives staff
- 2 years experience
- Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, hold a valid driver’s license
