Assistant Project Manager

Location: Los Angeles, California

Company: Pegasus Development

Position Summary

Pegasus Development is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support a high-profile experiential interior construction project in Los Angeles. This is an owner-side, client-facing field role. The successful candidate will serve as the day-to-day site representative for the client, reporting directly to a Senior Project Manager, and will be responsible for construction progress monitoring, field coordination, documentation, and issue tracking throughout project execution.

This position is best suited for a candidate with strong construction fundamentals, solid drawing literacy, and the ability to coordinate effectively with the ownership team, general contractor, subcontractors, design consultants, and specialty vendors. Candidates with experience in experiential environments, high-finish interiors, museum or exhibit installations, branded environments, themed entertainment, or hospitality interiors are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day on-site representative for the client and ownership team
  • Report directly to the Senior Project Manager and provide routine field updates on project status, schedule performance, quality, and key risk items
  • Monitor construction progress against project milestones, look-ahead schedules, and critical path activities
  • Attend and participate in owner, architect, contractor, and field coordination meetings
  • Maintain site reports, photo documentation, issue logs, and progress summaries for internal and client distribution
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, and related project documentation to understand scope, sequencing, and design intent
  • Assist in reviewing and tracking RFIs, submittals, change events, punch items, and closeout deliverables
  • Coordinate with the general contractor, subcontractors, consultants, and specialty vendors to support efficient field execution
  • Track open field issues and help drive timely resolution through clear communication and disciplined follow-up
  • Monitor installation of high-finish interior scopes and custom elements to confirm alignment with the contract documents and owner expectations
  • Support coordination of specialty fabricators, exhibit vendors, millwork contractors, lighting vendors, graphics installers, and other non-traditional trades as required
  • Assist in tracking long-lead materials, off-site fabrication progress, delivery sequencing, and installation readiness
  • Escalate schedule risks, coordination gaps, quality concerns, and scope issues to the Senior Project Manager in a timely manner
  • Support punch, turnover, and project closeout activities in a detail-intensive environment

Qualifications

  • 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in construction management, owner representation, project management, or field coordination
  • Strong working knowledge of construction means, methods, sequencing, and site coordination practices
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, consultant, and construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Experience working on active construction sites and participating in regular project meetings and coordination efforts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface professionally with clients, contractors, and consultants
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Strong judgment, accountability, and follow-through in a fast-moving field environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in one or more of the following project types will be strongly favored:

  • Experiential or immersive environments
  • Museum or exhibit installations
  • Themed entertainment or branded spaces
  • Hospitality interiors
  • High-finish commercial interiors
  • Custom fabrication and specialty vendor coordination
  • Architectural millwork, decorative finishes, specialty lighting, graphics, scenic elements, or AV-integrated environments
  • Fast-track interior fit-outs with overlapping trades and dense sequencing requirements

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and standard construction reporting tools
  • Working knowledge of MS Project or Primavera P6 preferred
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM-based coordination workflows is a plus

Professional Profile

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of field presence, technical competence, and stakeholder management capability. This role requires someone who can operate effectively in a design-sensitive, client-facing environment and who is comfortable balancing schedule monitoring, documentation, field coordination, and issue escalation on behalf of ownership.

  • Full medical benefits
  • 401(k) retirement plan
