Duties
- Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as cooking, assembling dishes, and portioning ingredients according to recipes and standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, including sanitizing surfaces and proper food handling practices
- Support the culinary team in menu planning by preparing components for daily specials or upcoming events
- Handle food safely by following all health regulations, including proper storage, temperature control, and hygiene protocols
- Assist with catering orders and special event setups to ensure timely delivery of quality meals
- Use knife skills effectively for precise cutting, slicing, dicing, and other food prep techniques
Experience
- Previous experience in a dietary department or dietary aide role is highly desirable
- Background in food service or restaurant environments with familiarity in food handling and meal preparation
- Culinary experience that includes cooking techniques, menu planning, and food presentation
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper sanitation procedures
- Skills in knife handling, food industry practices, and kitchen operations are essential
- Experience in catering or serving is a plus but not required; enthusiasm for learning is valued
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail
