Human Resources Director
Peermusic is seeking a highly organized, people-first Human Resources Director to join our team in Nashville, TN. This full-time, hybrid role partners closely with executives and employees. Day to day HR operations, employee relations, recruiting, and performance management.
Peermusic is the world’s largest independent music publishing and neighbouring rights administration company, operating from 39 offices in 33 countries.
The ideal candidate combines strong HR fundamentals with exceptional emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and the confidence to build trust at every level of the organization. They thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments, aren't afraid to step into difficult conversations, and can navigate employee relations, workplace challenges, and shifting priorities with empathy, professionalism, and accountability. This role reports to the CEO and US/Canada President.
Responsibilities include:
- Serve as a trusted, visible HR partner by building relationships, answering employee questions, and confidently navigating sensitive workplace issues – heavy employee relations while fostering positive workplace environments.
- Lead the employee lifecycle, including recruiting, onboarding, performance management, employee development, benefits administration, succession planning and offboarding.
- Process bi-weekly payroll for US and Canada, including communications to Finance on cash needs, and management of the retirement portal.
- Partner with managers by providing coaching, guidance, and practical tools that strengthen leadership capabilities, support effective performance management, employee engagement, and professional growth.
- Lead compensation and benefits strategies that align with the firm's compensation philosophy and support the attraction, retention, and development of top talent.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures that support organizational effectiveness and compliance.
- Oversee risk management activities related to personnel, workplace practices, insurance coverage, and organizational operations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR, people operations experience supporting the full employee lifecycle, including employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, performance management, compliance, and HR operations.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in payroll processes, 401k and immigration administration.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of California employment law, leave administration, employee classifications, and HR best practices. Multi state employment law experience is a plus along with entertainment industry experience.
- Significant experience managing employee relations, workplace investigations, performance management, and organizational change.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills with the ability to earn trust at all levels of the organization.
- A proactive, hands-on mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities, identify solutions,
- Experience with HRIS platforms such as BambooHR.
