JOB SUMMARY

The Assembly & Paint Technician is a cross functional role designed to support overall production operations, with primary responsibilities in assembly and secondary responsibilities in painting. The primary function of this role is assembling large steel components and complete aggregate equipment according to engineering specifications and production schedules. In addition, the role includes painting responsibilities as assigned, including surface preparation, coating application, and maintenance of paint equipment.

This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a team oriented mindset, along with the flexibility to assist in painting and facility upkeep as needed to support overall production goals and the success of the role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

OVERALL: Facility & Support (Applies to all aspects of the role)

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in both assembly and paint areas 
  • Assist with organization and upkeep of the yard, including staging and material flow 
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of the paint booth to ensure safe and efficient operation 
  • Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company policies 
  • Collaborate with fabrication, welding, paint, and quality teams to meet production goals 

          PRIMARY: Assembly 

  • Assemble structural steel components, subassemblies, and complete equipment (screens, feeders, conveyors, etc.) 
  • Install bearings, shafts, motors, guards, springs, and related components 
  • Read and interpret blueprints, BOMs, and job travelers 
  • Verify correct parts and materials prior to assembly 
  • Ensure proper alignment, fit, and function of all components 
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, cranes, and forklifts safely 
  • Inspect completed assemblies for quality and accuracy 
  • Assist with staging, loading, and preparation of equipment for shipment

SECONDARY: Painter

  • Assist with the preparation of parts for painting, including cleaning and masking 
  • Mix and apply coatings according to company standards as assigned 
  • Operate and support paint line start up and shut down processes 
  • Clean, maintain, and assist in servicing painting equipment 
  • Follow all paint specifications, formulas, and application procedures 
  • Support paint operations based on production schedules and workflow needs
Qualifications:

          REQUIRED

  • 18 years of age 
  • High School Diploma or GED 
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States 
  • Up to 3 years of experience in mechanical assembly, manufacturing, or related field 
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools 
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings 
  • Forklift experience required 
  • Willingness to learn painting processes and assist as needed 
  • Ability to work overtime as required

PREFERED

  • Previous experience with industrial painting, urethane, or automotive coatings 
  • Experience in heavy equipment or steel fabrication environments

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Strong attention to detail and quality 
  • Basic math and measurement skills (tape measure, calipers, etc.) 
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions 
  • Flexibility to shift between departments as needed 
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills 
  • Time management and problem solving ability 
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 10 hours per shift, with periodic breaks
  • Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and climb frequently throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. repeatedly
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands and arms
  • Ability to work for extended periods in a non temperature controlled industrial environment, while adhering to all safety policies and PPE requirements
