Merchandiser

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform responsibilities keeping safety as the number one priority for yourself and your colleagues. Inform management of any safety issues or concerns.
• Thrives to maintain and enhance Peerless Beverage’s overall dominance and market share in retail accounts.
• Understand Peerless Beverage Company marketing programs, point of sale tools, and merchandising requirements in order to execute to plan at retail accounts.
• Understands Peerless Beverage Company retail account standards and apply to all retail merchandising calls.
• Develop excellent working relationships with retail customers to meet customer service standards and achieve mutual goals.
• Promotes a positive image for Peerless Beverage Company and maintains company dress code at all times.
• Effectively coordinates with sales reps and drivers to execute merchandising assignments.
• Completes assigned merchandising stops and gives progress report to merchandising management.
• Responsible for daily execution of merchandising assignments including but not limited to, building / maintaining Peerless Beverage Company displays, rotating product, installing point of sale tools, updating, and refreshing point of sale tools, and assisting on resets.
• Work with sales team and report any account-related issues that cannot be addressed and requires additional follow-up such as but not limited to, pricing, out of stocks, product quality issues, competitive activities, etc.
• Responsible for using all assigned Peerless Beverage Company equipment in an efficient manner, ensuring all equipment is not abused or damaged while conducting daily job duties.
• Obey all traffic laws and regulations for Federal, State, and Local laws to maintain a safe driving record.
• Willing and able to assist other department with tasks or projects when needed and directed by Merchandising Manager or Field Merchandising Supervisor.
• Inspects assigned vehicle for mechanical problems and is responsible for keeping merchandising vehicle properly stocked and equipped to perform all merchandising duties.

Qualifications

• Valid NJ driver’s license and safe driving record must be maintained for this position.
• Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
• Familiar with Peerless Beverage Company territory geography.
• Physical ability to lift, push, pull, reach for, and move product of varying weights of up to 150lbs. at multiple levels, including above shoulder and at floor level, on a constant basis.
• Ability to work in outdoor environments for extended time periods.
• Excellent customer service aptitude: ability to maintain positive interactions.
• Strong time-management skills and ability to work independently.
• Adherence to safety guidelines/requirements, including proper body mechanics. Ability to exercise sound judgement when faced with safety issues.
• Adherence to customer service guidelines/requirements established at each account.
• Flexibility to work extended hours as needed, including extra days and weekends.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
• Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously and independently.
• Familiarity with beverage industry is desirable.
• Experience with, power tools, pallet jacks and other material handling equipment is helpful.
• Strong critical thinking skills.
• Strong ethical and honest judgment.
• Collaborates well with others and proactively contributes to group objectives.

Working Conditions

The physical and mental demands described below are representative of those that are most commonly encountered in this position yet are not all inclusive. Physical and mental ability to perform the duties of this job include hearing ability sufficient to communicate efficiently and effectively with internal and external customers in person and by telephone/voice systems. Hearing ability is also necessary for safety due to mechanical equipment use at many customer locations. This position requires almost constant standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting/pulling, and pushing of up to 160 lbs., without mechanical assistance, at ground to above head levels. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder up to 15ft. Ability to work in outside environments through different climate. Cognitive, intellectual, and mental ability to concentrate on details, and to perform more than one task at a time, including when under significant time and other pressures and to communicate professionally and effectively with customers, co-workers, and all levels of personnel.
