Recovery Counselor
PEER Services (peerservices.org) is a leading nonprofit provider of community- based substance use prevention and treatment services for Evanston, Maine, New Trier, Niles and Northfield Townships, and the north side of Chicago. The Recovery Counselor is a member of the MAR team and reports to the Clinical Manager. The Recovery Counselor provides individual counseling, implement treatment plans and identify client needs. They assist in group facilitation and planning services for client needs and maintains a caseload of approximately 40-50 clients providing documentation on all services.

- Accomplish individual and team goals and objectives established by supervisor based on prior performance evaluation.
Job Duties
· At least 65% of time spent directly with a caseload with approximately 40-50 clients.
· Able to do the following: Individual, group, emergency or supportive counseling with any client.
- Responsible for timely, accurate, and appropriate treatment planning and review, progress notes, urine test results, special fee charges, program statistics and reporting and record closings.
- Adjust working hours to meet program needs.
- Understands and applies confidentiality laws to daily practice.
- Accurately assess needs and complete admissions and assessments for new clients.
- Implement and Evaluate Treatment plans.
- Case management including referrals and assistance clients with basic needs.
- Assist with training new staff and interns
- Ability to effectively operate office technology and systems to perform duties of the role.
- Effective communication skills and responsiveness to interoffice communication.
- In collaboration with the Clinica Manager, identify and develop partner and referral relationships, build and maintain strong working relationships with external partners.
- Ability to Multitask.
· Demonstrated understanding and adherence of 42CFR Part 2 and HIPPA regulations for client confidentiality.
- Demonstrate professional boundaries and ethics.
· Participate in staff meetings including trainings and supervisions.
Compliance & Quality Insurance
- Recover counselors are held responsible for ensuring that the client’s rights to confidentiality are not violated.
- Intake procedures must be followed as outlined in the SOP. The clinical manager is responsible for assigning the client to a MAR Staff therapist or Recovery Counselor.
- Address client concerns and complaints promptly and professionally.
Classification, Compensation, Work Schedule, and Benefits:
· This is a regular, full-time, exempt, 40 hours per week position.
· Compensation is $50k annually, dependent on experience and qualifications.
· Work hours will be based on the needs of the program and staff availability.
· Current work schedule is M-f from 6am-2pm.

Qualifications
- Degree in Counseling or Social Work preferred.
