The biostatistician collaborates with faculty, staff, and trainees within the Stead Family Department of Pediatrics Department of Pediatrics to support the statistical aspects of research project development and data analysis. The biostatistician assists with refining research questions, designing appropriate methodologies, and structuring effective data collection processes.

This is a specified term position.

Duties to include:

  • Collaborate with faculty, investigators, and trainees within the Department of Pediatrics to provide responsive and methodologically sound biostatistical consultation.

  • Advise on study design, data management, and database development (e.g., REDCap) to support accurate and efficient data collection and analysis.

  • Perform statistical analyses in collaboration with principal investigators, ensuring appropriate methods are applied and results are interpretable and reproducible.

  • Prepare high-quality analytic reports, including data visualizations, that clearly and effectively communicate descriptive and inferential findings; revise deliverables as needed.

  • Participate in departmental meetings, research conferences, and collaborative discussions, as requested.

  • Maintain comprehensive records of biostatistical support activities, including investigators served, project types, and time allocation.

  • Sustain and enhance expertise in biostatistics, epidemiology, and related methodologies through ongoing professional development.

  • Contribute to the department’s educational mission by participating in seminars, workshops, and trainee instruction, as time permits.

  • Provide regular, scheduled consultation hours to support faculty and trainee research needs.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable standards for data security, patient confidentiality, and ethical research conduct.

  • Maintain current certification in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and adhere to all institutional and regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Foster a collaborative and respectful work environment that reflects the values of the academic and clinical community.

  • Support institutional priorities by promoting efficient use of resources, contributing to operational effectiveness, and engaging in continuous process and quality improvement efforts.

  • Pursue ongoing professional growth and development to enhance current performance and support long-term career advancement within the academic research environment.

Education Requirements

  • Master’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Experience Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience (minimum one year) in biostatistics, epidemiology, or a related quantitative field.

  • Proficiency in the selection, management, and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data using appropriate biostatistical and informatics methods.

  • Experience with statistical programming and data analysis software (e.g., SAS, R, or similar platforms).

  • Ability to accurately interpret and communicate the results of statistical analyses in a research context.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex methodological concepts to a variety of audiences.

  • Proven ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary and interprofessional research teams.
