What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Teacher- Special Education position at Pediatric Therapy Solutions?
We are looking for a qualified Preschool Teacher to work alongside our therapists in a small, private preschool for children with developmental challenges. The right candidate must have experience working with children of all abilities in a classroom setting. The maximum class size is 6 children between the ages of 2 through 5. Each class has an assistant to help the teacher as needed to ensure that each child gets the individual attention that they need to grow and thrive. The hours are from 8:30 AM- 12:30 PM Monday through Friday. This is a year-round program. This position is ideal for a teacher with special education experience that wants to work part-time with a smaller class size and supportive coworkers.
Responsibilities
- Teach children with developmental challenges in a small group learning environment.
- Follow lesson plans
- Collaborate with therapists, and other teachers regarding children's progress in preschool
- Communicate regularly with parents of students
- Weekly meeting with administrator and other teachers to discuss plans for the week
- Monthly staff meeting with entire staff
- Proven experience as a Preschool Teacher
- Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
- Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
- Excellent communication and instructional skills
- Ability to act as mediator between children
- Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
- Bachelor's degree in education or relevant field preferred
