Responsibilities
Respiratory Therapist (RT) Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive respiratory and ventilator assessments
- Evaluate weaning potential and respiratory rehabilitation opportunities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized respiratory care plans
- Initiate and manage ventilator weaning protocols per physician orders
- Administer prescribed respiratory medications and treatments
- Perform scheduled and PRN respiratory interventions
- Monitor labs, clinical indicators, and ventilator parameters within scope of practice
- Document care clearly and concisely, including ventilation checks every 12 hours per PSC policy
- Maintain accurate progress notes, evaluations, and discharge summaries
- Communicate clinical findings and recommendations to physicians and interdisciplinary team members
- Educate families, caregivers, and staff on respiratory equipment and procedures
- Assist with in-service training and onboarding education for staff
- Ensure safe, cost-effective use of respiratory equipment and supplies
Respiratory Therapist (RT) Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy required (Bachelor’s preferred)
- Active, unencumbered Pennsylvania Respiratory Therapist license
- RRT or CRT credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care
- Current CPR (AHA Healthcare Provider) certification
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Pediatric, ventilator, or long-term care experience preferred (but not required — we will support training)
