Overview
The Human Resources Assistant will play a vital role in recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and supporting day-to-day HR operations. This role is ideal for someone interested in developing their HR career while working in a collaborative healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
- Ability to maintain high level of discretion over sensitive organization and employee information.
- Processes transactions in HR systems such as new hire and personnel actions, changes of status, promotions, terminations, organizational changes, etc. through required workflow process.
- Support payroll processing including reviewing timesheets for compliance and accuracy. Assist employees with missed punches and corrections.
- Prepare payroll and timekeeping reports.
- Collaborates with Payroll team to respond to garnishments, EDD audits, and claims.
- Manage benefits enrollment for new hires and collaborate with brokers on open enrollment process.
- Performs research and analysis of information; coordinates/manages special projects as requested.
- Collaborate with safety team on updating policies and procedures and running safety meetings with staff.
- Coordinate with Senior Office Administrator on workers comp injuries and reporting claims.
- Collaborate with managers to facilitate and manage review process and assist with addressing performance related matters.
- Support recruitment process by posting job openings, screening applicants, conducting phone interviews and setting up interviews with hiring managers.
- Team oriented, self-starter with the ability to drive projects through completion with minimal supervision.
- Ability to adapt quickly and be flexible in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent communications skills and ability to communicate and work with employees at all levels required.
- Working knowledge of CA and Federal employment laws.
- Responds to routine HR questions including, but not limited to benefits, vacation, sick time and/or redirect employees to appropriate contacts in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must have a bachelor’s degree and at least 1 to 3 years of HR experience.
- SHRM or HRCI certification preferred.
- Must demonstrate strong empathy and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive information professionally and confidentially.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong multi-tasking skills.
- Strong efficiency using of MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams).
- Working knowledge of HRIS system (Paylocity experience a plus).
- Effective organizational skills to manage projects.
- Current California driver's license and valid insurance.
