Job description 

As our Audiology department continues to grow, we are looking to add Audiology Assistants to support our providers and patients in our Atlanta, GA area offices. As an Audiology Assistant, you will be an integral part of the patient experience by ensuring that schedules are updated, hearing aid orders are tracked, and patient concerns are addressed in a timely manner. We currently have an opening in our Sandy Springs and Alpharetta locations.  

 

Primary Objective  

The Audiology Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to the Audiologist to collaboratively ensure the delivery of high quality, compassionate care to PENTA’s patients.  

 

Essential Functions  

• Collect, enter and verify patient demographic and insurance information in the electronic health records (EHR) system.  

• Schedule/reschedule/cancel patient appointments in the EHR system.  

• Maintain applicable work queues in the EHR system.  

• Manage hearing aid orders, device repairs and manufacturer returns 

• Interact with hearing aid instrument manufacturer/suppliers regarding the status of orders/repairs.  

• Maintain stock of office and clinical supplies.  

• Assist with form completion, including purchase agreements, returns and repairs.  

• Perform checks, troubleshooting and minor repairs to hearing aids, earmolds and other amplification devices under the direction of the Audiologist.  

• Clean hearing aids and other amplification devices.  

• Assist Audiologist with two-tester audiograms.  

• Assist with equipment maintenance and biological checks.  

• Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the position  

• The ability to work on-site  

• Predictable, reliable, and prompt attendance

• Ability to use Microsoft Word and Teams.

Training Period  

Training period would vary depending on past Audiology experience and proficiency with required responsibilities. Training will be completed on basic Audiology procedures, EMR, Noah, different hearing aid manufactures, work queues efficiencies. Training period would be two to three months.  

 

 

Education  

• High school diploma or equivalent GED required.  

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.  

 

Experience  

• Experience in Audiology, hearing science or Speech Language Pathology preferred.  

• Experience in a medical office setting preferred.

Supervision  

The Audiology Assistant reports to the Director of Audiology with clinical oversight from clinical location Audiologist(s). This position has no supervisory responsibilities.  

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work  

Full-time position, 40 hours a week, Monday-Friday 8am – 5pm. Hours are subject to variation based upon clinic needs.

Physical Demands:  

• Frequently required to stand; walk; sit in front of a computer; type; perform repetitive mouse clicks; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms to assist patients and/or providers/staff.  

• Occasionally assist with moving or positioning patients in wheelchairs, clinical equipment and office supplies up to 300 pounds.

Travel  

Travel to various PENTA locations is required dependent upon business need

A typical day for the Audiology Assistant will vary depending on the clinical location and daily needs. The Audiology Assistant will need to efficiently prioritize daily tasks while under the direction of the clinic’s Audiologist(s). The Audiology Assistant will complete the different responsibilities under the “essential functions”.
