Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality dental care to our patients, assisting the dentist during procedures, and ensuring a smooth operation within the dental clinic. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment according to infection control protocols
- Take and develop X-rays, ensuring compliance with safety standards
- Maintain accurate patient records and medical documentation in EMR systems such as OpenDental
- Manage patient appointments and assist with dental receptionist duties
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-operative care
- Monitor vital signs and assist in medical imaging as required
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality
- Support pediatric dentistry by providing compassionate care to young patients
- Utilize 3D scanners for imaging when necessary
Skills
- Proficient in EMR systems, particularly OpenDental
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and procedures including prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry
- Experience with chairside assisting and infection control practices
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry concepts and techniques
- Ability to perform medical documentation, coding, and maintain accurate medical records
- Strong understanding of aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients and team members
- Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is preferred
