Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized, energetic and compassionate Medical Receptionist to be the point of contact for our busy pediatric office. This role requires exceptional multitasking, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage high-volume patient traffic and administrative tasks efficiently while maintaining patient confidentiality and welcoming atmosphere. At least 1-year medical office reception experience preferred.
About our Practice:
Pediatric Associates was founded in 1968 by Dr. Jack Andrews. Jack was recruited by the newly constructed Chippenham hospital to start up a pediatric practice across Hioaks Road from Chippenham Hospital. Pediatric Associates is the oldest pediatric practice on the Southside of Virginia. We still practice out of the original location on Hioaks Road in an old farmhouse built in 1924. With steady growth, we were able to expand our practice and open our Waterford location in 2010. We have a large patient retention, parents that used to be patients with us.
Duties include (but not limited to)
- Greet patients, check them in, and manage front-desk operations
- Answer phone calls and route messages to appropriate departments
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments
- Verify insurance eligibility and collect copays or outstanding balances
- Update and maintain patient records in Practice Management systems
- Coordinate communication between patients and clinical staff
- Maintain a clean and organized reception area
- Follow HIPAA and facility-specific privacy procedures
Required Skills and Qualifications
Hard skills
- Proficiency in EHR software and scheduling platforms
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification
- Ability to handle multi-line phone systems and office equipment
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality practices
