JOB TITLE: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
CLASSIFICATION: EXEMPT
REPORTS TO: Mental Health Physicians, Partners, and Business Manager
Purpose Statement: Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW, shall coordinate all psychosocial and therapy services under the general direction of the Mental Health Lead Therapist, and Mental Health Physician Partner. In accordance with policies, procedures, and protocols established by Pediatric Associates of Alexandria (PAA), Virginia Board of Social Work, and other regulatory agencies' requirements. Responsible for implementing community educational programs, assessing problems and determining appropriate types and methods of treatment, and implementing intervention methodologies; acts as a consultant to staff members with or without professional training.
Essential tasks/duties of LCSW
- Provides comprehensive, evidence-based, solution-focused therapeutic services.
- Demonstrate excellent psychological evaluation and intervention skills.
- Collaborates with the health care team on issues of patient care.
- Conduct clinical consultations and diagnostic assessments to establish appropriate treatment goals and objectives for clients.
- Actively engage in the development and maintenance of a vibrant caseload.
- Documents all patient encounters, including face-to-face, telephone, and electronic communications, in the medical record in a timely fashion through a secure private Electronic Medical Record system.
- Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
- Facilitates the patient's transition within and between healthcare settings.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
- Facilitates staff, patient, and family decision-making by providing educational tools.
Qualifications / Experience
- Completion of a Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited school or program.
- Licensed LCSW – Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker to practice in Virginia.
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform all components of the LCSW position.
- Good time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality.
- Five (5) years of full-time clinical experience is preferred but not mandatory.
