The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all sanitation activities within the plant to ensure that equipment, production areas, and surrounding environments are properly cleaned and sanitized.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily sanitation operations, including pre-operational and post-operational cleaning.
- Ensure compliance with USDA, FDA, OSHA, and company food safety and sanitation standards.
- Train, coach, and manage sanitation team members on proper cleaning procedures, chemical usage, and safety protocols.
- Inspect equipment and facility areas to verify cleanliness and readiness for production.
- Maintain and monitor sanitation schedules, logs, and documentation.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Production teams to resolve sanitation-related issues.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and usage of cleaning chemicals.
- Lead corrective actions in response to audit findings, non-compliance issues, or contamination risks.
- Monitor and control pest management activities in coordination with external vendors.
- Promote a culture of safety, cleanliness, and continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 years of experience in sanitation or food processing, preferably in poultry or meat processing.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience required.
- Strong knowledge of sanitation practices, HACCP principles, and food safety regulations.
- Ability to work in cold, wet, and physically demanding environments.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Work Environment
- Exposure to cold temperatures, high humidity, and strong odors.
- Requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 50 lbs) for extended periods.
- May require flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
