The Role
This is a full-time, on-site role in Boston. The associate supports active litigation across a caseload of personal injury matters. Experienced attorneys handle cases solo. We want a dynamic problem solver who writes well and is good on their feet.
Day-to-day responsibilities:
- Communicate with clients throughout their matters.
- Research the law and apply it to the facts.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, demand letters, and settlement documents.
- Negotiate with insurance carriers and opposing counsel.
- Prepare for and attend depositions, mediations, and hearings.
- Try cases when the matter calls for it.
- Work with partners, staff, and experts on case strategy.
Compensation
The salary range is $70,000 to $80,000, with room above that based on experience.
Qualifications
- JD from an accredited law school.
- Active Massachusetts license in good standing, or eligibility to obtain one promptly.
- Experience or strong interest in personal injury. A labor and employment background is a plus for overlapping claims.
- Sharp problem-solving instincts and sound judgment.
- Strong writing. The ability to turn research across case law, statutes, regulations, and secondary sources into persuasive work.
- Effective negotiation skills. Comfort building demand packages and drafting responses.
- Strong oral advocacy.
- Experience drafting motions and appearing in court and administrative settings.
- Strong organization. The ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines and keep accurate, detailed files.
- Personal injury, civil litigation, or trial experience strongly preferred. Litigation clerkships or internships help.
- Commitment to ethical practice and professionalism. Respect for clients from diverse backgrounds.
