Elementary School Head Teacher

Joint School District 171 is hiring a Head Teacher to lead our K–6 elementary program in Peck, Idaho. This role is designed for a self-directed educator who thrives on the autonomy of a multi-grade classroom and is eager to maintain the high academic standards of our historic school while engaging with the local community. Key Responsibilities: ● Design and deliver creative, differentiated curriculum for a small cohort of students ranging from kindergarten through 6th grade. ● Collaborate with the principal of the school, overseeing daily operations, safety protocols, and student well-being. ● Supervise and collaborate with a small support staff to ensure every student receives individualized attention. ● Build strong, trust-based relationships with Peck families and represent the school at local events. Qualifications/Skills: ● Idaho teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements(s) or the ability to obtain the proper endorsements(s) via a state program. ● Strong background in teaching methods, developmentally appropriate classroom activities, and effective classroom management. ● Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and effective teaching methods. ● Strong background in the integration of technology with instruction. ● Ability to maintain a positive learning environment. ● Work well with students, staff and the public. ● Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills. ● The applicant must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening. Salary: Contingent based on education and experience. 2025-2026 Certified Salary Schedule Range: $50,252 – $78,437 https://orofinojsd171.schoolinsites.com/salaryschedules This position is eligible for an annual Head Teacher stipend of $3,393. Benefits: Employee medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage paid 100% by the district. Family benefits paid at 80% coverage. $20,000 employee life insurance and $2,000 dependent life insurance paid by the district. Eligible for PERSI retirement.
