Specialist, Content Developer

Pearson is hiring an Instructional Designer (Specialist, Content Developer) to build enterprise-grade learning experiences that drive measurable workforce outcomes. This role sits at the center of our Enterprise Content & Training (ECT) business—designing learning solutions that connect skills to job roles and business impact, not just standalone courses.

The Learning Scientist/Instructional Designer plays a strategic role in shaping high‑impact learning experiences for clients. This position blends deep expertise in training needs discovery, instructional design, and stakeholder engagement to deliver solutions that drive measurable performance outcomes. The ideal candidate is a trusted advisor who can translate business challenges into effective learning strategies and guide clients through the full lifecycle of training development.

Key Responsibilities

Client Discovery & Needs Analysis

  • Lead comprehensive training needs assessments through interviews, workshops, surveys, and data analysis.

  • Partner with client stakeholders to understand business goals, performance gaps, audience profiles, and success metrics.

  • Translate discovery insights into clear learning objectives, solution recommendations, and project scopes.

Learning Strategy & Solution Design

  • Design end‑to‑end learning solutions, including instructor‑led training, eLearning, blended programs, performance support, and digital learning assets.

  • Develop high‑level design documents, storyboards, and curriculum frameworks aligned to client requirements.

  • Ensure learning solutions incorporate adult learning principles, accessibility standards, and modern instructional methodologies.

Project Leadership & Collaboration

  • Serve as Instructional Design lead on client engagements.

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, designers, facilitators, and technical teams to bring learning solutions to life.

  • Provide thought leadership on best practices, emerging learning technologies, and industry trends.

Quality Assurance & Evaluation

  • Oversee quality reviews of learning materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, and instructional effectiveness.

  • Develop evaluation strategies to measure learning impact and recommend continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Support clients in implementing learning programs and interpreting performance data.

Qualifications

  • Experience in learning consulting, instructional design, or organizational development.

  • Proven ability to lead client discovery sessions and translate insights into actionable learning strategies.

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating design of complex or large‑scale learning solutions.

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder‑management skills.

  • Familiarity with learning technologies, authoring tools, and LMS platforms.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work in fast‑paced, client‑focused environments.

Preferred Attributes

  • Strategic thinker with a consultative mindset.

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and shaping structure from discovery insights

  • Passion for creating engaging, learner‑centric experiences

  • Strong analytical skills and a data‑driven approach to solution design

  • Certificate or advanced degree in instructional design, learning science, or related.
