Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Optician to join our growing team. In this role, you will assist patients with selecting eyewear, verifying vision insurance benefits, and ensuring accurate interpretation of glasses prescriptions.
This is a hands-on role blending optical dispensing with patient care support.
Key Responsibilities
Insurance Benefits Verification:
- Accurately verify patients' vision insurance benefits.
- Explain coverage details, copays, and out-of-pocket costs to patients
- Assist patients in maximizing their insurance benefits.
Eyewear Selection and Order Management:
- Adjust frames, troubleshoot Rx issues and handle remakes/ restyles.
- Guide patients in selecting frames and lenses that fit their style, budget, and prescription needs.
- Provide detailed explanations of lens options, coatings, and upgrades.
- Interpret and verify glasses prescriptions for accuracy.
- Process orders for eyeglasses and contact lenses, ensuring all specifications are correct.
Cross-Training and Patient Support:
- Assist with pretesting patients, including performing basic diagnostic tests (e.g., autorefractor, tonometry) when needed
- Maintain a seamless flow of patients by supporting various areas of the practice as required
- Schedule patients and answer incoming calls as needed
Customer Service:
- Deliver exceptional service by addressing patient questions and concerns
- Educate patients on eyewear care and adjustment techniques
- Provide follow-up services, such as frame adjustments and repairs
Qualifications
- Previous experience as an Optician is required
- AZ Licensed Dispensing Optician (LDO) a plus
- Fluency in English and Spanish is required
- Familiarity with vision insurance plans and benefits
- Experience with AcuityLogic/RevolutionEHR is a plus
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in using computer systems
