Job Overview
Optometry practice located at the corner of Pearland Parkway and Beltway 8 is looking to fill a full - time Office Floater to join our team! This energetic role offers the opportunity to support various functions across different departments, ensuring smooth office operations and exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate will be proactive, highly organized, and adaptable, ready to step into diverse tasks as needed. Bilingual preferred but not required.
The responsibilities will be but not limited to pre-testing, scheduling appointments, authorizing insurance, answering phones, greeting patients. Must be knowledgeable in verifying multiple medical / vision insurances, optical, contact lenses, and insurance billing strongly encouraged. We are looking for someone to join our team that has great customer service.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with the intake process to gather relevant medical history and current concerns
- Prepare patients for eye examinations by performing preliminary tests including visual acuity assessments and autorefractor measurements
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
- Assist with clinical procedures using aseptic techniques, ensuring a sterile environment for examinations and treatments
- Support the optical team by providing basic optical experience, including lens measurements and retail sales of eyewear products
- Collaborate with optometrists during exams, ensuring all necessary documentation and supplies are prepared for smooth workflow
- Handle front desk duties such as scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, and managing medical billing or coding when needed Skills
- Strong foundation in patient care with excellent communication skills to create a positive patient experience
- Prior optical or ophthalmology experience is highly desirable for supporting exam processes and retail sales
- Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to eye health, and ophthalmic procedures
- Ability to multitask efficiently at the front desk while managing medical records and scheduling appointments
- Basic knowledge of medical billing, coding, and clinic operations enhances overall efficiency in the practice
- Assist customers in selecting and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses
- Take accurate measurments of customers' eyes and facial features
- Interpret prescriptions written by optometrists or ophthalmolgists
- Recommend appropriate lens materials, frame, and lens coatings based on customers needs and preferences
- Adjust and repair eyewear as needed
- Maintain accurate records of customer information and transactions
