What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product & Growth Co-Founder - AI Money Companion for Gen Z position at Pearl?
About Pearl
Pearl is an AI-powered money companion starting with Gen Z. We help people enjoy their money while building long-term wealth: mapping every dollar, answering “Can I afford this?”, and forecasting their financial future so they can spend with confidence, not guilt.
We’re live in the App Store and Play Store. Connects to your financial accounts, predictive insights, proactive alerts on spending, and savings. Think your smart money friend in your pocket, not another budgeting app.
The long-term vision: a free, AI wealth companion & advisor that helps those who’ll never have a private banker or traditional wealth manager — and still outperforms the experience the top 0.1% gets today.
Where We’re Going
Phase 1: Help Gen Z build better spending habits, save more, and grow their wealth — while still going out, traveling, and living life. No shame. No restrictive budgeting. Just clarity, accountability, and “yes, you can afford this (or not).”
Phase 2: After a pre-seed round and regulatory approvals as an SEC Registered Investment Advisor, evolve into an automated wealth engine: auto-saving, auto-investing, paying down debt and more.
The business model is primarily B2B.
The Founding Team (So Far)
You’ll be joining a second time, technical founder who can ship product end-to-end (backend, frontend, infra, AI) and already has a pipeline of ~20 VCs for early conversations and can always meet more. I can also be non-technical.
What’s missing is a Product & Growth co-founder who lives and breathes Gen Z, consumer products, and brand.
What you’ll do
- Co-own product strategy & roadmap with a focus on Gen Z money realities
- Lead UI/UX and product experience – from first touch to long-term habit loops. You should care deeply about design, but even more: the feeling you get from it.
- Drive growth & distribution:
- Craft Pearl’s voice and brand so it resonates on TikTok, Instagram, and wherever Gen Z hangs out.
- Build growth loops: referrals, community, campus/creator programs, content, partnerships.
- Run experiments across acquisition, onboarding, activation, and retention.
- Talk to users constantly – interviews, user tests, Discord/Slack groups, surveys, and in-product feedback.
- Help build the early team & culture as we scale beyond the founding group.
Who You Are
- You understand product led growth is most important for distribution
- You want to build and design the world we live in, you don’t believe in limits
- Consumer product growth background. You’ve shipped and grown consumer apps, preferably targeting Gen Z or young adults.
- Strong product & design instincts. You can take a fuzzy idea, turn it into flows/wireframes, and iterate quickly based on data and user feedback.
- Marketing & brand-savvy. You’re comfortable owning experiments across organic social, creators, communities, and scrappy distribution not reliant on ads.
- First-principles thinker. You prefer reasoning from fundamentals over copying other fintechs. You’re comfortable challenging assumptions and the status quo.
- High-output and resilient. You move fast, care about craft, and don’t fold when things break (because they will).
- Low-ego, high-ownership. You care more about building something important than being “right.” You want a true partnership, not just a title.
What you’ll gain
- True co-founder status - meaningful equity and real say in product, brand, and company direction (exact split to be discussed).
- Massive problem to work on – financial access, generational wealth, and an opportunity to shift real-world outcomes for billions.
This is equity-only until we raise pre-seed. If you need a salary right away, this probably isn’t the right fit.
