Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Montessori Assistant Teacher to join our School as an Infant/Toddler Assistant. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and promoting the academic and social development of students.
Duties
- Plans, prepares, and delivers lessons that facilitate active Montessori learning experiences. Instructs and monitors students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
- Creates instruction that supports the development of the cognitive, emotional, social, physical, and spiritual growth of the child.
- Provide and maintain a clean, orderly, and attractive Montessori environment, including changing the assigned bulletin boards and classroom environment monthly.
- Establish a positive relationship with parents of the students and maintain regular communication with parents with regard to their child's specific needs.
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
- Prepare progress reports and hold parent/teacher conferences for each child twice a year. All reports will become part of the child’s permanent file.
- Maintain teaching skills and participate in professional development activities (both within the school community and via attendance at conferences, workshops, etc.). Stay up to date on development in the field of Montessori education, and attend in-service training whenever possible.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 12 units in Early Childhood Education.
- Minimum of 2 years successful teaching experience or equivalent in a child care setting with comparable responsibilities with the age group to be served.
- Possession of or eligible for: Valid Red Cross First Aid Certificate and Valid CPR Certificate
- Preferred: Montessori Certification from a MACTE-accredited teacher education program.
