Position Overview

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for residents and develop individualized nutrition care plans
- Provide medical nutrition therapy (MNT) in accordance with physician orders, clinical guidelines, and resident needs
- Monitor residents’ nutritional status and adjust care plans based on changes in condition, labs, weight, and intake
- Collaborate with nursing, dietary, therapy, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, high-quality care
- Oversee and evaluate the implementation of therapeutic diets, including texture modifications and specialized nutrition plans
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and CMS regulations related to nutrition services and dietary practices
- Participate in the MDS/RAI process, including completing nutrition-related assessments and contributing to care planning
- Monitor and support quality measures related to nutrition, including weight loss, malnutrition, and hydration status
- Provide education to residents, families, and staff regarding nutrition, dietary needs, and health management
- Support the dietary department in menu planning, food service operations, and ensuring meals meet clinical and regulatory standards
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Stay current with industry best practices, regulatory changes, and clinical nutrition advancements
- Current, active Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential in good standing with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
- Licensed (or eligible for licensure) as a Dietitian in the State of Kansas
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field from an accredited program
- Completion of an accredited Dietetic Internship or supervised practice program
- Previous experience in a skilled nursing, long-term care, or clinical healthcare setting preferred
- Strong knowledge of clinical nutrition, therapeutic diets, and medical nutrition therapy (MNT)
- Familiarity with CMS regulations, nutrition-related quality measures, and documentation standards preferred
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) and nutrition documentation systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively educate residents, families, and staff
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions
