This position plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy, security, and confidentiality of resident health information while maintaining compliance with HIPAA, state, and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, organize, and audit resident medical records for accuracy and completeness.
- Manage electronic health record (EHR) documentation and resident demographic information.
- Process authorized requests and releases of medical records in compliance with HIPAA requirements.
- Ensure proper chart setup, filing, coding, indexing, and record retention practices.
- Track physician certifications and required documentation for skilled nursing services.
- Collaborate with clinical teams, consultants, and admissions staff to support regulatory and reimbursement requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, and healthcare documentation practices.
- Strong computer, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
- Healthcare, medical records, or long-term care experience preferred.
