What We're Looking For
We are seeking Network Installation Technicians to support DISA and DoD enterprise networking initiatives. The focus is on modern transport, edge connectivity, and secure network infrastructure deployments supporting mission-critical environments. Ideal candidates bring hands-on technical expertise, strong leadership capability, and experience working in cleared DoD environments.
U.S. Citizenship and the ability to maintain a DoD security clearance are required.
What You’ll Do
- Provide implementation support for DISA network and infrastructure projects, including:
- DoD enterprise transport modernization
- Secure campus/base “last-mile” connectivity
- SD-WAN and software-defined network deployments
- Zero Trust network enforcement points and boundary protections
- Apply in-depth knowledge of DISA/DoD IT network infrastructure, standards, and best practices across multiple assignments.
- Perform hands-on network infrastructure installation activities, including:
- Rack, stack, and power of network and transport equipment
- Mounting telecommunications hardware
- Copper and fiber cabling installation and termination
- Labeling, documentation, and inventory tracking
- OTDR, light-level, and certification testing
- Pre-commissioning and acceptance testing
- Ensure all work aligns with DoD security requirements, including STIG compliance and secure engineering practices.
- Lead and coordinate teams of Installation Technicians, organizing on-site activities to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
- Track and report installation status with accuracy and attention to detail, producing:
- As-built documentation
- Test results and redlines
- Closeout and turnover packages
- Identify risks or issues early and escalate appropriately to maintain schedule and quality.
- Support customer walk-throughs and final operational acceptance prior to handoff to operations teams.
What You’ll Need to Succeed (Requirements)
- Active DoD Secret clearance (or higher)
- 5 years of experience supporting DoD or DISA network infrastructure projects
- Strong hands-on experience with network installations in secure environments
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams in the field
- Solid understanding of DoD networking concepts, transport architectures, and secure boundary implementations
- Experience producing detailed technical documentation and installation reports
- Willingness and ability to travel as required,
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with modern networking and transport platforms, including:
- Ciena (6500 / 6500-family or equivalent)
- Juniper (MX, PTX, QFX, EX)
- Cisco (Catalyst, Nexus, ASR, ISR)
- Contemporary optical/packet transport platforms (e.g., Nokia, Infinera)
- Familiarity with Zero Trust architectures, ICAM principles, and SD-WAN deployments
- Industry certifications (CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA/JNCIP, or equivalent)
- Prior experience supporting DISA, large-scale DoD enterprise networks, or federal modernization efforts
Physical & Travel Requirements
- Ability to assemble/disassemble equipment, sit or stand for extended periods, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to travel to CONUS customer sites (approximately 75%).
Location:
- This is a travel-based position. Candidates can be based anywhere in the continental U.S. within easy driving distance of a major.
