Aerial Lineman

Position Title: Aerial Lineman - Telecom  

The Aerial Lineman is responsible for maintaining and building overhead and underground infrastructure with fiber optic and copper cable.

Essential Functions:

• Experienced in the following tasks: New Cable Installs, Pole Transfers, Strand Building, Cable Hanging, Lashing Over, Wreck Out, and Make Readies
• Install and repair lines in a variety of environments
• Ability to climb wooded utility poles and perform line work off hooks
• Experienced in Bucket Truck Operation
• Perform manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions
• Analyze job locations for utility lines, permitting, and traffic control in order to complete construction activities without quality defects, safety incidents or any type of property damage
• Complete daily inspections and reporting of maintenance issues on vehicles, trailers and equipment
• Maintains a professional working attitude with co-workers and customers
• Produces quality work that upholds industry standards

Success Factors: 

• 3-5 years of Fiber Optic and Copper Cable industry construction, maintenance and testing experience
• Should provide own climbing equipment and basic hand tools
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, kneel, grasp, push, pull and reach on a frequent basis throughout the day. Must be able to lift-up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis
• Time management skills
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

Experience and Education: 

• High school diploma or equivalent desired 
• 3-5 years of Fiber Optic and Copper Cable industry construction, maintenance and testing experience
• Driver License Required; CDL Preferred
• Experience working with underground utilities desired 
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus 

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications: 

• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License is required within two weeks of employment. 
• Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
