Staff Accountant

Peak Systems is a technology staffing, and managed services consulting firm, connecting technical consultants with nationwide opportunities and supporting enterprise clients in various industries.

We are currently seeking candidates to assist with accounting duties as a temporary internal staff member in our accounting department. The candidate will work directly with the Controller and other accounting team members. Duties and requirements are below. This is a full time, temporary assignment with 40 hours a week with the potential to become a permanent role. 

Location: New York, NY 10001 (Tuesdays and Thursdays – remote on Monday, Wednesday and Friday)

Position: Staff Accountant  

Hours: 8am-5pm, regular business hours, 40 hours a week 

Hourly Pay Rate: $30-35 depending on experience 

Job Description: 

1. Assist Controller with monthly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts. 
2. Record transactions into our accounting system (Sage 300). 
3. Scan mail received weekly and triage documents to appropriate accounting team member, including entering garnishments in our payroll system.
4. Assist in collection of approved weekly timecards from our temporary staff.
5. Run reports out of our payroll system and maintain administration of state savings programs. 
6. Complete ad-hoc projects as needed that assist the accounting department.

Experience and Training: 

1. BS in Accounting
2. Experience reconciling bank accounts with large volume activity in a prompt and accurate manner.
3. Advanced Excel skills, including VLookups and Macros.
4. Ability to work independently during remote work days.
5. Good communication and writing skills.
6. Experience with Sage 300 is a plus, but not mandatory.
