What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Professional position at Peak Sodding?
SALES PROFESSIONAL
Peak Sodding | Triangle Area, NC
Field Sales | Residential Outdoor Living | Full-Time W2
$110,000 to $195,000 OTE. $155,000 at target.
$5,000 guaranteed first month. Not a loan, not recoverable. A floor while you learn our system.
8% commission on every dollar you close. Flat, transparent, uncapped.
WE ARE NOT FILLING A SEAT
We're looking for one person. If that's you, we'll move fast. If it isn't, we'll keep looking.
Most home services companies hire salespeople the way they hire labor: by the headcount, by the deadline, whoever's available. We've built something that deserves better than that, and we'd rather wait for the right person than staff up and hope.
Here's the honest version of what we want. An elite communicator who can sell. Not necessarily someone who has sold landscaping. Not necessarily someone who knows what a paver base is. If you have sold something complicated and expensive to two people sitting across a kitchen table from you, and you were good at it, we want to talk to you.
We'll teach you the product. We cannot teach you how to make a homeowner trust you in the first ninety seconds.
WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT
275 five-star Google reviews walk in the door before you do. We've built the strongest reputation in the Triangle for outdoor living installation by doing what most companies in this space don't: communicating proactively, delivering exceptional quality, and treating every client like they matter. When you show up, you're not overcoming skepticism. You're confirming what they already found online.
Company-generated leads fuel your pipeline. Our marketing generates a consistent flow of homeowners who are actively looking. Our office team books your calendar. The overwhelming majority of your pipeline comes to you. You spend your time in front of clients, not chasing them.
You price it in the home, in the appointment, on the first visit. We built a proprietary pricing tool that produces a real, accurate, final number while you're standing in the client's backyard. No going back to the office. No "I'll send that over tomorrow." No losing a deal to whoever quoted faster.
Financing is built into every presentation. Our Easy Investment Plan lets clients move forward on projects they'd otherwise defer for a year. Reps who lead with monthly investment sell larger scopes and close more of them. It's one of the biggest advantages we hand you.
Average project size is $12,000 and climbing. As we expand deeper into hardscape, the number keeps moving. You're not grinding out small transactions to make a living. Every appointment is a real opportunity.
The system is built. Pricing tool, CRM, a documented sales process, follow-up SOPs, a defined onboarding curriculum. You're not inventing a process. You're running one that works, and adding your own skill on top of it.
You have a dedicated Sales Manager. Weekly pipeline reviews, real coaching, someone who has your back. Supported, not smothered.
WHAT WE INSTALL
Sod, artificial turf, and backyard putting greens. Paver patios, retaining walls, fire features, walkways, and drainage, built on Techo-Bloc, the premium hardscape line in the market.
You'll sell all of it. Most projects combine two or three scopes, which is a large part of why our average job size looks the way it does.
THE NUMBERS
We believe in transparency, so here is exactly how the compensation works.
• Commission rate: 8% of gross revenue on every project you close
• Structure: 100% commission after your first month
• First month: $5,000 guaranteed, non-recoverable. It's a floor, not a loan.
• Commission timing: 50% paid on signed agreement and deposit, 50% paid on project completion
What the math actually looks like:
Our sales professionals run approximately 10 consultations per week across 46 selling weeks, roughly 460 per year. At our $12,000 average project size and an 8% commission rate:
• 25% close rate: 115 projects, $1,380,000 revenue, $110,400 earnings
• 30% close rate (minimum): 138 projects, $1,656,000 revenue, $132,480 earnings
• 35% close rate (target): 161 projects, $1,932,000 revenue, $154,560 earnings
• 40% close rate: 184 projects, $2,208,000 revenue, $176,640 earnings
• 45% close rate: 207 projects, $2,484,000 revenue, $198,720 earnings
These are built on our actual lead volume and actual job sizes. Run the math yourself.
And here's the part most job postings leave out. Year one is a ramp. You'll build to full appointment volume over your first sixteen weeks. A realistic first-year number is $95,000 to $120,000, plus your guaranteed first month. Steady state is where the numbers above live. We'd rather tell you that now than have you find out in March.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Run 10 or more consultations per week at clients' homes. You'll walk their property, understand what they actually want, and design a solution that fits.
Present price in the home, on the first visit. Every time. Our tool makes this possible. Your job is to use it.
Close at the table. If the fit is right, ask for the business before you leave.
Follow up with discipline. Structured follow-up within 24 to 48 hours on everything that doesn't close on the spot, tracked in our CRM with real notes.
Hand off cleanly. When you close, our project management team needs complete and accurate information so the installation experience matches the sales experience.
Get better on purpose. Appointments are recorded and reviewed against our sales process. This isn't surveillance. It's how we coach, and it's how good reps become excellent ones. If being recorded bothers you, this isn't the right fit.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
This is not an entry-level role.
Elite communication. You can build trust quickly with two skeptical adults who are about to spend more on their backyard than they spent on their last car. You listen more than you talk. You ask better questions than anyone else who's been to their house.
A proven closing record, in any complex sale. Home services, construction, and landscaping experience is welcome but not required. In-home sales, B2B, medical device, financial services, high-ticket retail. If you've sold something considered and expensive, and the numbers back you up, we want to see them.
Coachability over ego. We have a defined process, and we expect you to run it while you learn it. The reps who succeed here are the ones who master the system first and then bring their own gifts to it. If you already know a better way and aren't interested in ours, we'll both be frustrated inside sixty days.
Comfort with accountability. Clear KPIs, tracked weekly: 30% close rate minimum, 35% target, price presented in-home on every consultation, 48-hour follow-up, clean CRM. If that sounds like structure you'd thrive in, keep reading.
Integrity that matches ours. We've built this brand on radical honesty. Every promise you make to a client, we have to deliver on. That starts with you.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Week 1: Full onboarding on our products, our process, our pricing tool, and our client. You'll ride along on live appointments and start role-playing the same week.
First 30 days: Running appointments alongside a manager, then solo. Certified on the pricing tool. First deals closed.
By day 60: 8 or more appointments per week independently. 30% close rate. Price presented in-home on every consultation.
By day 90: Full pipeline ownership at 10 appointments per week. 35% close rate sustained. CRM fully managed. Health benefits begin.
Ongoing: 35% close rate, in-home pricing on every consultation, 48-hour follow-up, weekly reporting to your Sales Manager.
LOGISTICS
• Employment: W2, full-time. Outside sales, exempt from overtime.
• Benefits: Health, dental, and vision available after 90 days.
• Vehicle: $500 monthly vehicle allowance. You'll need a reliable vehicle, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record.
• Equipment: Company-provided iPad and access to all sales tools.
• Schedule: Your calendar is set by our office team into defined appointment blocks. Because most of our clients are dual-income households, evening appointments are standard, not occasional. Expect several 5:30 and 6:00 PM starts each week. Saturdays are occasional during peak season, not routine.
• Territory: The Triangle. Wake, Chatham, Johnston, and Durham counties.
