Major Duties
- Write and review complex specifications for equipment, materials, and services, conducting robust market research and product feature comparisons.
- Review and analyze procurement bids to formulate award recommendations for the General Services Division (GSD) and the Comptroller of Public Accounts’ Texas Procurement and Support Services (TPASS).
- Process complex contract and open-market requisitions under delegated signature authority, while monitoring inventory controls and technological marketplace trends.
- Act as the primary point of contact between vendors, districts, and state agencies to resolve specification questions and expedite deliveries.
- Provide workload coordination, schedule assignments, and deliver field or classroom training to procurement staff as a designated lead worker.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration , Public Administration, or a related field ( equivalent and relevant technical training/experience may substitute d).
- Experience: Three (3) years of professional purchasing experience, including at least two (2) years specifically within public procurement.
- Certifications: Current Certified Texas Purchaser (CTP) or Certified Texas Procurement Manager (CTPM) designation; candidates without active certification must obtain it within twelve (12) months of hire.
- Skills: Expert knowledge of Texas state purchasing rules, technical specification writing, mainframe/computer workflows, and data analysis.
- Compensation : $ 51.00 / hour
- Duration : Through FYE (8/31/26) with potential to be extended
- Days/Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hours per week)
- Location: Austin, TX (On-site / Hybrid options per department guidelines)
