What are the responsibilities and job description for the Performance Coach position at Peak Performance Training - Maryville?
About Peak Performance Training
Peak Performance Training is a coaching-first strength and conditioning facility in Maryville, TN, serving youth athletes and adults. Our tagline is Climb Higher - we believe capability can be built, consistency beats intensity, and coaching begins with understanding the person in front of you before prescribing anything. We're not chasing hype or quick fixes. We're building real relationships and real, evidence-based development, one session at a time.
The Role
This is a coaching-first position. Your job is to deliver high-quality, high-energy sessions that meet Peak's coaching standard, and to run a coaching process that drives real client development - for athletes and adults both. Peak believes coaches, not programs, are what actually change people's trajectories. This role exists because we believe that, and we're looking for someone who believes it too.
We're not looking for someone who already knows our system - we'll teach you that. We're looking for someone who wants to give back through coaching, who's a student of the craft, and who we can trust to represent Peak on the floor.
What You'll Do
- Deliver Peak's coaching standard every session: Explain–Cue–Demo, visual language, 1:1 feedback, full engagement with every athlete and client in the room
- Come prepared - know what, who, and how you're coaching each week, before the week starts
- Log PRs and milestones for your athletes and clients
- Keep equipment and facility standards tight
- Work through a structured onboarding: culture and coaching fundamentals first, then technical systems, then live reps with feedback, extending into adult coaching once trust is established
- Participate in a real review rhythm - weekly check-ins, weekly programming meetings, and quarterly performance reviews - not a "figure it out yourself" environment
What Success Looks Like
- Consistent execution of Peak's coaching standard, tracked and reviewed, not just assumed
- At least one PR or milestone logged per client per month
- Reliable, proactive weekly preparation - not scrambling day-of
- Growing trust and responsibility over time, including eventual input into how Peak runs as a business
Requirements
- CPR/AED certified
- CSCS or SCCC certification required
- Strength & conditioning coaching background preferred
- Reliable transportation; full availability for the role's session times, including early mornings, regardless of commute distance
- Coachable, hungry to learn, and driven by a genuine desire to help people - not just to coach
Compensation & Perks
- Path to salary: 38,000–40,000/year salary
- CSCS exam/renewal support
- Free Peak training/membership
- Team dinners, gear, and recognition
- Paid time off: available once you convert to salary (1 week after 90 days); unpaid time off available before that per standard policy
- Retirement and health insurance: not part of the initial offer, under consideration for the future
