About the Role:
We are seeking a reliable and professional FEMALE Phlebotomist/Specimen Collector to join our team in Lewiston, Maine. This individual will be responsible for collecting and processing biological specimens in a clinical setting. We require some travel when necessary. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing a respectful and comfortable experience for patients.
Note: This position requires a male collector due to the sensitive nature of the population being served.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine venipuncture and specimen collection in accordance with established protocols.
- Perform gender specific observed UA collections.
- Ensure accurate patient identification and labeling of all specimens.
- Maintain documentation and logs of all specimens collected and shipped.
- Interact professionally and compassionately with patients, ensuring privacy and comfort.
- Prepare specimens for transport to laboratory and ensure timely shipping.
- Follow infection control and safety procedures at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the collection area.
- Collaborate with administrative and clinical staff to ensure smooth workflow.
- Attend ongoing training and compliance updates as needed.
- Travel to other locations to do blood draws if necessary.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in phlebotomy (not required) or relevant experience in specimen collection.
- Minimum 1 year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and responsibly.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Reliable transportation to and from the site. Able to travel to other locations.
