What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior AI Product Designer position at Peak Health?
PeakHealth • SF Bay Area (3 days/week in office)
We’re rebuilding healthcare to keep people well. The American system is broken—built to treat illness, not prevent it.
PeakHealth is a new DTC care platform integrating women’s health, longevity, and functional medicine into everyday primary care. We’re building it AI-native from the ground up: every surface—the intake, the care plan, the clinician handoff, the day-to-day patient relationship—is being designed around generative AI, not retrofit with it.
That AI-native foundation is the design opportunity here. The patterns for consumer health × generative AI haven’t been figured out yet. We want a designer who has an opinion about what they should be, and the craft to ship them.
Led by a repeat healthcare founder (2x unicorns / 1x IPO), you’ll join a ~20-person team of top clinical, tech, and AI talent—including a 4x NYT bestselling Chief Medical Officer who is a world-renowned endocrinologist.
This is a senior IC role with end-to-end ownership of the product surface. You’ll define the visual and interaction language, design net-new AI-native flows the industry hasn’t standardized yet, and ship alongside engineering rather than throwing files over a wall.
In a given month you might: shape a new care intake flow built around an LLM conversation, redesign a clinician dashboard for actual humans (our CMO has notes), spike a v0 prototype to settle a sprint debate, and PR a CSS fix because it was faster than filing a ticket. Our stack: Figma, v0, Cursor, Claude, and a forgiving engineering team.
- 6 years of consumer product design
- Visible craft: strong visual polish, real instinct for motion and micro-interactions, a clear sense of taste.
- Direct experience designing for generative AI products. You have a point of view on designing trust, uncertainty, latency states, and AI error recovery.
- Fluency with the modern design stack (Figma, v0, Cursor, Claude/ChatGPT, etc.) and comfort working inside a vibe coding environment.
- A close working relationship with engineering as the default mode—bonus if you’ve shipped front-end code yourself.
- A “unicorn” mentality at this seniority: opinionated, autonomous, allergic to scope battles, willing to do the un-glamorous work when it’s what the product needs.
- Experience in consumer health, finance, or similar highly-regulated consumer field
- Consumer tech (Spotify, Instagram, Duolingo, Cash App, etc.) followed by a move into digital health (Calm, Noom, Oura, Whoop, Headspace, etc.).
- AI-native companies (OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity, Notion AI, Character.ai).
- Consumer-rooted health tech (Apple Health, Fitbit/Google, One Medical).
- Design engineers from craft-first product companies (Linear, Vercel, Loom).
- Light awareness of FDA / HIPAA constraints—enough to work within them, not enough to be paralyzed by them.
- Direct experience at a close competitor in DTC longevity, weight loss / GLP-1, hormone health, women’s health, or telehealth.
- You’re leaning on healthcare domain expertise to carry you. We hire for craft first—domain we can teach.
- You see design and engineering as separate disciplines with a handoff in between.
- You’re skeptical of AI design tools, or skeptical of generative AI as a product surface.
- You want a stable roadmap and a clearly scoped multi-quarter project. We’re still early.
- You’ve only worked at large, well-resourced companies where the chaos was someone else’s problem.
