Electrical Engineer - Circuit Design and Solar Tracker Controllers
Our client is a leading provider of solar tracking systems used in large commercial, community solar and utility-scale applications. The Electrical Engineer will support the design and development of solar tracker controller systems, contributing to both new product development and ongoing system enhancements. This role offers hands-on involvement across the full product lifecycle, including circuit design, system integration, testing, and validation. Working closely with cross-functional engineering teams, this individual will play a key role in bringing advanced solar tracking technologies from concept through deployment.
What You’ll Do
- Contribute to the design, development, and validation of solar tracker controllers while ensuring alignment with performance and safety standards
- Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PCB layouts using industry-standard design tools
- Perform circuit simulations, evaluate results, and document key findings to support design decisions
- Collaborate with firmware and systems teams to define and document hardware and software interfaces
- Support the integration of controllers with sensors, motor drives, and other related system components
- Execute electrical testing and troubleshooting on prototypes and production units, documenting root cause findings and corrective actions
- Use lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators to validate system performance
- Assist in the development of embedded systems, including firmware and control logic for tracking applications
- Analyze test data to improve system efficiency, reliability, and overall performance
- Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, test reports, and user-facing materials
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution
- Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical design, control systems, or renewable energy applications, with internship or co-op experience considered in lieu of full-time experience
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals, including circuit design and power systems
- Experience performing electrical calculations such as load analysis, voltage drop, breaker sizing, and fault current evaluation
- Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB design tools
- Familiarity with lab instrumentation and hands-on testing techniques
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E
- Experience with microcontrollers, sensors, and electromechanical components
- Basic programming experience in C/C , Python, or MATLAB
Salary Range: $90K - $120K Bonus
