General Laborer – Commercial Construction

About Us
Peak Construction Group is a commercial general contractor based in eastern Iowa. We build schools, municipal facilities, public infrastructure, multifamily housing, and commercial build-outs. We self-perform demolition, rough and finish carpentry, structural steel, precast and pre-engineered metal building erection, and welding.
The Role
We’re hiring a General Laborer to support our field crews on a variety of tasks. Work includes demolition, general rough carpentry, and assisting with structural steel and PEMB erection, among other duties. We’ll provide on-the-job training, so this is a great opportunity for someone dependable and hardworking who wants to build a career in construction.
What You’ll Do
- Do selective and interior demolition, including removing walls, ceilings, flooring, fixtures, and other materials
- Do general rough carpentry, such as framing, blocking, and backing
- Help with structural steel, precast, and PEMB erection: staging material, rigging support, bolting, and fire watch
- Haul debris and keep the jobsite clean, organized, and safe
- Load, unload, and move materials and equipment
- Set up and take down scaffolding, barricades, and temporary protection
- Follow all site safety rules and wear the required PPE
- Take direction from foremen and learn new tasks as you go
What We’re Looking For
- A strong work ethic, reliability, and a good attitude
- A real interest in learning a trade
- Ability to do physical work outdoors in all weather, including lifting 50 lbs, climbing, bending, and standing for long periods
- Basic hand and power tool knowledge is helpful but not required
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to jobsites around eastern Iowa
- Construction experience is a plus but not required. We’ll train the right person.
- OSHA 10 is a plus

Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, typically 7:00 AM–3:30 PM. Hours may vary depending on the jobsite and project requirements. Overtime may be required.
