Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Main Cook to join our team ! This position is for a fast-paced soul food kitchen where quality, consistency, and timing are extremely important. We are looking for a cook with strong experience in food preparation, food safety, follows recipes, and kitchen organization who can work efficiently under pressure while maintaining excellent quality standards.
Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Lead meal preparation efforts for daily service, catering events, or special functions with efficiency and attention to detail.
- Plan menus that incorporate nutritional guidelines, dietary restrictions, and customer preferences while maintaining flavor excellence.
- Manage food safety protocols by adhering to proper food handling procedures, sanitation standards, and storage practices.
- Supervise kitchen staff and dietary aides during meal preparation, providing guidance on knife skills, cooking techniques, and food presentation.
- Oversee inventory management by monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies as needed, and minimizing waste.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment by following health regulations and cleaning schedules.
- Assist with training new team members on food preparation methods, safety procedures, and service standards.
- Collaborate with the dietary department to ensure meals meet specific dietary needs and preferences for residents or clients.
- Support food service operations by ensuring timely delivery of meals and assisting with serving when required.
Experience
- Proven experience in a culinary setting with a focus on main cooking responsibilities in restaurants or similar food service environments.
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations within the food industry.
- Experience with menu planning that caters to diverse dietary needs including special diets or fine dining standards.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling practices is essential.
- Prior dietary aide or dietary department experience is highly desirable.
- Skilled in knife techniques, meal assembly, and presentation to enhance visual appeal.
- Familiarity with catering services or large-scale meal production is a plus.
