About This Role

The ideal candidate will serve as the lead teacher, which includes working with children to provide a safe and nurturing environment for social and academic growth. Other preschool experience is a plus, and future opportunities for growth are available. Longevity matters, and making sure that we hire staff members who are dedicated to educating the students in their class is very important to us! Our salary for the position tends to be the highest of any school in the area. Salary is based on experience and education (degree level). Non-experienced applicants could be selected for apprentice positions if they have consistent job history and experience working with children. Full and morning positions are available.

What You'll Do

  • Create and maintain a developmentally appropriate learning environment.
  • Become familiar with and incorporate best practices from Quality rated and NAEYC standards of Developmentally Appropriate Practices.
  • Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, and storytelling.
  • Contribute/create ideas and projects for weekly lesson plans.
  • Follow written and oral instructions of parents and center administrators.
  • Assume immediate responsibility for children in assigned classrooms.
  • Attend to children’s basic needs including feeding, dressing, and changing diapers when appropriate.
  • Enforce all health and safety policies, including:
  • Proper hygiene and hand washing
  • Cleaning, sanitation, and disinfecting of equipment and toys
  • Classroom and playground safety
  • Security procedures and emergency preparedness and evacuations
  • Arrange indoor and outdoor spaces to facilitate creative play, motor-skill activities, and safety.
  • Enforce rules for behavior to maintain order in the classroom.
  • Provide daily parent communication (written and verbal).
  • Assessing children’s development and incorporating activities that meet individual needs and interests.
  • Identify children showing signs of emotional, developmental, or health-related problems, and discuss them with the Director.

Requirements

Must meet requirements for being Group Leader Qualified by the State of Georgia Dept. of Human Services. Minimum of two year of experience working with children in early childhood programs and CDA/Associates Degree. If working in the Infant classroom must hold current certification in First Aid and CPR.

Nice To Haves

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Capable of relating to diverse age and demographic backgrounds. Physical ability to frequently bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds. Possess a sound knowledge of the procedures and regulations specific to the care and education of infants and children. Possess a willingness to learn the necessary skills and knowledge to strive for continuous improvement. Demonstrate diplomacy, tack, and professional demeanor at all times.

About Peachtree Prep, Our Early Childhood Division

The early childhood division of the school bases its academic program on a weekly unit of study for academic advancement. Teachers use lesson plans to guide the delivery of information and address individual issues of advanced skill levels or areas of improvement that are needed. Parents may supplement the curriculum by bringing in books, materials, or ideas related to the theme for the benefit of the class.

Salary : $30,000 - $34,000
