Ultrasound Sonographer – PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center

Hiring Bonus and Relocation Assistance May Be Available

Why Us. Why Now. Why You.

If you’re an Ultrasound Sonographer who wants more time with patients—and less time racing through nonstop exams—you’ll feel at home at PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center. Many sonographers leave jobs because the pace feels rushed, the days feel transactional, and there’s never enough time to give patients the care they deserve.

That’s Not How We Work Here.

Ketchikan is a close, welcoming island community where patients are neighbors, coworkers, friends, and family. We’re a critical access hospital that delivers meaningful, relationship‑centered care—not high‑volume, assembly‑line medicine. You’ll have the time, space, and support to truly connect with people and practice the work you love with purpose.

And right now is an especially exciting moment to join us. PeaceHealth Ketchikan has recently been recognized for:

  • Safety & Quality: Alaska Hospital & Healthcare Association Innovation in Patient Safety & Quality Award (2025)
  • Quality & Excellence: Newsweek America’s Best In-State Hospitals (2025)

When you join this team, you join a highly trusted, mission‑driven organization where patients, caregivers, and community come first.

The Role: Full Time | 1.0 FTE | Day Shift

Compensation: $54.65–$77.15 per hour (dependent on experience, training, and other factors)

Schedule & Work–Life Balance: This full‑time role is scheduled Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. There is no call and no weekend work. Enjoy a predictable schedule with no afterhours interruptions and three-day weekends every week!

As an Ultrasound Sonographer at PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center, you’ll use your skills to deliver thoughtful, patient-centered diagnostic care. You’ll work with state‑of‑the‑art imaging tools and a compassionate team who values accuracy, collaboration, and kindness.

What You’ll Do

  • Welcome each patient with care, empathy, and time to understand their concerns.
  • Perform ultrasound exams tailored to each individual—not rushed, one‑size‑fits‑all scans.
  • Adjust equipment settings to ensure the highest‑quality images.
  • Work closely with physicians to support accurate diagnosis and clear communication.
  • Review patient history and previous studies to provide the best imaging approach.
  • Document findings clearly and maintain up‑to‑date patient information.
  • Prepare exam rooms and ensure equipment is ready and functioning well.
  • Support your team and contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Participate in an inclusive culture where every caregiver belongs and is valued.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Sonography program or equivalent education and/or experience as required for obtaining certification/license/registration as required by the national registry through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
  • The strongest candidates will have extensive Obstetrics experience, with at least three years of recent OB experience preferred. We’re looking for someone who is confident providing care throughout pregnancy, labor and delivery, and the postpartum period.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer within 1 year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire.
  • PACS/RIS experience required.
